Meros Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 29, 2026
Meros is built as a local-first app for protecting secrets by splitting them into Splinters that stay on devices or move only through user-approved actions. Meros does not require a Meros account, cloud sync, or a central secret server.
Who We Are
This privacy policy applies to the Meros app published by Periphery on Google Play. For privacy questions, contact support@meros.in.
Data We Collect
The current Meros app does not collect personal data, protected Meros content, Splinters, keeper information, pairing codes, diagnostics, crash reports, analytics, advertising identifiers, or usage telemetry for Periphery or any developer-operated service.
Meros does not create a hosted Meros account and does not upload your Meros Library to a Meros backend.
Data Stored On Your Device
Meros stores app data locally on your device so the app can operate. This may include encrypted local Meros records, Splinter-related records, trust relationships, local audit records, app preferences, and reduced diagnostics prepared on the device. These records are intended to remain under your control on your device unless you choose a foreground action that moves or shares material.
User-Approved Sharing
Meros includes flows that can move or share Splinter-related material only after user action. Depending on the feature and device capability, those actions may use QR codes, files, Android share sheets, message links, NFC, Bluetooth, local network discovery, or direct peer-to-peer transfer. These flows are user-initiated and are not developer data collection.
If you choose to share a file, message, link, QR code, diagnostic summary, or other artifact through another app or service, that third party handles the shared item under its own terms and privacy policy.
Permissions And Device Access
Meros may request access to device capabilities only for app features:
- Camera access for scanning QR codes.
- Bluetooth access for nearby Meros device discovery and direct transfer.
- NFC access for NFC factor features where supported.
- Network and local network access for peer-to-peer transfer and discovery.
- Location permission where Android requires it for relevant proximity or policy-gate features.
- Biometric or device credential APIs for local unlock and sensitive-action checks.
Meros does not use these permissions to collect data for Periphery, to track you, or to serve advertising.
Diagnostics
Meros diagnostics are designed to be local, user-initiated, and redacted. The app does not automatically upload telemetry, analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic logs. If you choose to export diagnostics, you decide whether and how to share them.
Data Sharing
Periphery does not sell personal data and does not share personal data collected by the Meros app because the current app does not collect user data for Periphery.
Retention And Deletion
Meros data is stored locally on your device until you delete it in the app, clear the app's local storage, or uninstall the app. Because Meros does not maintain hosted user accounts or a developer-operated Meros backend for the current app, Periphery does not retain a copy of your Meros Library on its servers.
Children
Meros is not designed for children. It is intended for adults managing sensitive information and trusted custody relationships.
Security
Meros is designed around local-first storage, foreground approval for custody-changing actions, and redacted diagnostics. No app can guarantee absolute security, and you should keep your device, operating system, and app updated.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as Meros changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date.
